Hello there!

Im new around here, so, i was wondering if you can tell me about what you people use to do to your mito. what kind of modifications do you make.
Who has the most powerfull mito, who has the most beautifull.
what kind of material do you put on. And so on.
Exhoust system, pipes, air filters, carburators, membranes, cylinders, pistons, you know..!

Here in Portugal it's very dificult to get material for these bikes.

hi pika.... i think you start from an expansion and modify the diagram of cylinder :roll1: a larger carburator , a 32/34 is the best compromise price/performances

Tks {mRk}
I just wanted to know what kind of things you do around here.
I have my own mito tuned, and wanted to make a comparison.
The compression ratio 15:1 of the mito '93 it's the only thing i doubt.
The man who "tuned" my mito used to prepare racing bikes for oficial races.
And he used to prepare a mito for the mitocup here in portugal, and they raced with 16:1. And they did become champions on that bike.
Maybe the lawson version had that compression ratio 15:1.
I have an '97 model (EV) with 7 speed, and it was about 12:1.

It's a litle bit hard to say everything my bike has inside, but i will try to tell you.

-polini fully worked
-piston 64mm wiseco - the polini is the same mesure what makes 163cc~
-compression ratio 14:1
-exhaust valve is off
-ignition system totaly diferent, variable ignition + CDI or ECU
-the cilinder exhaust outlet diamenter it's a litle bigger, 39mm
-sparkplug NGK B10 EGV
-hand made exhaust system with original silencer (but opened the entrance to 26mm if i'm not making mistake)
-carburator: i had the mikuni 35, next changed to an dellorto 37, now i have an keihin 41mm
-cluch has been reinforced, it has 5 springs now (and after the last modifications it will need to be reinforced again)
-V-Force Red-valve ( YZ 250)

(i may be forgetting something)

Performance:

Well, i'm waiting to reinforce the cluch because in high rpm it just dont do :bye2:
The fuel i use is the BP 100 octanas.
The transmition is an 14-38 and i think it's short. hope to see that after the cluch.
I estimate around 45 horse power, but ofcorse, it's only a guess.
Top speed, won't do much than 200km/h, i think it's an acceptable top speed, and top rpm is about 12.800 / 13.000rpm.

As soon as its in good condition to role, i will make some movies.

But to open your apetite i will put some photos here.

anyways..

pikandi, i'd want to know more about your ignition system and CDI, i'm really curious, cause here in italy it's not so easy to find a racing ignition system different from the stock one..

whose brand is it?

thanks in advance and...

hope youì'll enjoy our little, but really good website and board!!

sul cilindro ci sono interventi molto discutibili....davvero tanto discutibili...
tantissima area in ingresso,un pacco enorme,e poi una travaseria curata pokissimo..con un condotto di scarico enorme...
mah, campione o no a me quel cilindro personalmente non mi aggrada piu di tanto.
45cv secondo me li vede col binocolo.
interessante l'uso del v-force,cosi cm sembra carina la marmitta
che cavolo di accensione usa?

Nrg69
I think i understand what you said in italiano. That the cylinder is not efficient and the 45hp are exagerated. I can tell you the cylinder, the carburetor andthe exhaust system were made fore each other, using mathematics, and especific formulas to get the correct areas and degrees.
Well, you can say that. it's not perfect. And the 45 hp, that's a thing i will have to find out.
I'm only sad for one thing, I wasn't ambitious enough to modify the quotes.
The original ones are 56 x 50.6, my mito has 64 x 50.6, and i could make it 64 x 52.6. It would turn the engine into 173cc, and mantaining some of the measures of the exhaust it would be more powerfull at all the rpm range.
Could you wright that in english so i can understand it better?

marco1988, im Portuguese, not english!

And the ignition system is an yamaha, not a racing ignition system, it's from a 50cc, and it's lighter than the original one, and because i turned off the exhaust valve, i can make it up withh the new ignition system because it's variable at diferente rpm.
If the exhaust valve was mecanic and not electric, then with the two things it would be even better.

It was very dificult to find out the right bobine. I tried two more, and the one i tried before this one, had not enough power. I couldn't ride the bike, the carburation was impossible to get correct.
That problem is solved now.

I have 3 more problems to fix:

1- i have to buy one " retficador de corrente" from the yamaha tzr 50 to make sure the lights don't crush again :bye2:

2- the cluch needs to be reinforced once again.

3- i will open up the engine to see if the bend of the crankshaft can be fixed or if it has to be a new one.

After that i will make some movies.
Im' sorry i can't explain better, im not English, there are things i don't know how to say.

Frankie22 i will try to explain.

every engine has his cc.
originaly mito has 124cc right?
Those 124cc correspond to 56mm diametro piston and 50.6mm de curso de crankshaft (motore alberto ? :bye2: )
By using the polini the cc becomes 163cc = 64mm piston and the same 50.6mm de curso.

I will have to find a new polini cilinder and a new crankshaft, and a new head two.
Then i will work the crankshaft and it will pass from 50.6mm >52.6mm.

Then i will have to work the polini cilinder (in iron, not in nikasil) to these new values.
And the head, i will fill it whith aluminium again because you can't use a bigger piston than 67mm because the rings in the head.

so, if i do not work the head,
I can get the 52.6mm crankshaft and the same 64mm of the polini. That makes 173cc aprox.

Working the head you can use piston 68mm. And then you can get aprox 185cc.

if you make the exhaust system a litle bit larger on particular "rings" of the exhaust, mantaining other mesures intact, you can get the proportional thing.
Whith the same limit rpm (giro). But then, obviously the risk of braking your engine is bigger.

my kit is "racing" but not for Racing.
Its a compromise between softness and screeming.
It has more and softer tork (at low rpm) now than when it had the exhaust valve working (with the polini). but it has less power at mid rpm, and much, much more power at high rpm.

But its not for racing.

Believe me, the cilinder is tuned up as it's ment to be.
It's suposed to be exacley as it is.
Perhaps the photo can make some ilusion to you. they were made in a litle hurry.
